In the first semester of my final year, I learned about this disease and was fascinated by the number of individuals that suffer from it as well as the demography

The death of bone tissue due to a lack of blood supply.

Avascular necrosis is a condition that is associated with long-term usage of steroids and/or too much alcohol intake. It’s most common in people between the ages of 30 and 60 and often affects the hip as well as other joints and bones of the body.

Kienböck’s disease is a rare form of AVN in which lunate bone, loses its blood supply, leading to necrosis of the bone.

The cause of this form of AVN is unknown, i.e idiopathic, but some causes involve multiple factors, such as the blood supply, i.e arteries, blood drainage (veins), and skeletal variations. The video above will give you more insight into the condition.
